SinuTec is a company that designs, develops, manufactures, and distributes products that focus on improving outcomes to current surgical practice and optimization of the healing process to promote well-ventilated, patent pathways for sinus drainage for patients who suffer from chronic sinusitis.
Chronic sinusitis ranks among the most expensive and pervasive medical problems in the modern world, rivalling cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other adult diseases for intervention and pharmaceutical treatment efforts. Surgical intervention remains destructive and invasive with risks of scar, complication, and revision.

Sinus cavities and their openings, or ostia, must be healthy to allow gas and liquid exchange, proper humidity for respiratory health, wet filtration of the airway, and elimination of microbes and other irritants. Chronic sinusitis results from obstruction of sinus ostia and subsequent accumulation of diseased mucus rather than steady-state elimination. Surgery is often attempted to reopen the sinus ostia when medical measures fail. Uniform application of a pressure/occlusive dressing in the ostia is challenging due to the irregular contour and window-like opening of the sinus ostia.
SinuTec has developed a solution to promote healing and durability of sinus interventions, providing a ‘cure’ for inadequate sinus intervention and expanding the usage of procedural sinus treatment to a broader group of sufferers of this impactful disease.

Dr. Hepworth is an Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, & Throat) Specialist fellowship trained at Stanford. He is a nationally recognized contributor to the science and clinical practice of endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. He is also a chemical engineer/material scientist with experience in the aerospace and atomic energy industries. His experience with biomaterials predates his medical experience by more than a decade, first as an aerospace failure analysis engineer and later as a radioactive waste cleanup project manager. Both of these life and career experiences gave him a unique perspective on the nuances of sinus care and how to bring innovative technology solutions to the human experience as provider and patient.
